Tibet - Block Prints

These two little boys are Tibetan Monks (in training) working on traditional block prints. In Tibet, much like Japan, respect for art is established from very young. It seems it is much a part of their daily lives. Art is more of a functional aspect of their cultural, rather than a luxury or extra curricular activity. It enriches lives and nurtures talent and discipline. I love this picture, just the way the ink is all over the floor, and they are sitting on the floor, there are submersing them self into the experience of it, that’s how I want to raise my children! The textures and lettering are so much more of an expression than the English language in written form. I love to get my hands wet and create; this is what this photo inspires me to do.

Butterflies

Nature in general astonishes me and stops me in my tracks, the color variations, complexity of form and sheer beauty captivate me and inspire me to create something remotely close to its essence. All the answers are in nature, you don’t have to look very far, it is all around us. One great example of how beautiful nature is, is the beauty of a Butterfly. Here are some examples I found and the color palletes derived from them, for the entire list, and more butterflies go to: http://www.colourlovers.com/blog/2007/06/01/colorful-beauty-in-nature-butterflie

Nebula

The Cat’s Eye Nebula is a “planetary nebula”, created when a dying, Sun-sized star ejects its outer layers of gas into space. This Nebula will be visible until its gas dissipates into space over the course of about 10,000 years. (hubble site) The Cat’s eye shows a certain symmetry and beauty in its color, light and formation. Looking at these “gas balls” that are the beginnings of endings of a planet , fascinates me. Our very own planet began much like this, a gas ball, that over time formed into planet earth. To see more of these natural phenomenon go to: http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/nebula_collection/. These photos taken from space, inspire me to create effects with light and create interesting color palettes in my work.
